Teams should only be in shotgun when it is so obviously a passing down that none of the eleven defenders are even waiting to read/react to whether it is run/pass, they are just playing pass from the onset. It was not just the Steelers, a lot of teams utilize shotgun stupidity all the time, even in short yardage situation. If today's QBs are too stupid to turn their back on the defense and then have to turn back around and make quick decisions as to what defense is being run, then sign smarter QBs. A "play action pass" out of shotgun is not a play action pass.
