Bayern Munich will be looking to capture a Champions League title in 2026/27 and now we know just how difficult the first part of that journey will me.
The league phase opponents were drawn for the Bavarians and there are some exciting match-ups on the slate for Vincent Kompany’s crew. Let’s take a look at how the drawing played out:
- Arsenal (H)
- Atlético Madrid (A)
- Real Betis (H)
- Manchester United (A)
- FK Bodø/Glimt (H)
- LOSC Lille (A)
- Slavia Praha (H)
- Viking (A)
The top eight teams are awarded direct qualification and automatically advance to the round of 16 with a bye. From there, the top eight teams receive seeded status in the round of 16 draw.
For the middle 16 teams (9th to 24th) in the league phase, there is a playoff qualification round. These teams advance to a two-legged knockout phase playoff. As for seeding, teams ranked 9th to 16th are seeded and will play the unseeded teams ranked 17th to 24th (with the second leg hosted at home by the seeded team).
For the bottom 12 teams (25th to 36th), they are eliminated and knocked out of the competition.
