The Matt Campbell era is well and fully underway for Penn State football, and so are the high school seasons for his first batch of recruits.
The Nittany Lions’ 2027 class currently holds a No. 24 overall ranking and the No .8 spot in the Big Ten, per 247Sports. With a new head coach and lots of turnover, this ragtag class features prospects from plenty of states that Penn State typically has not targeted — including Iowa, South Dakota, Minnesota, Utah, and Louisiana.
One of those commits, who’s a bit closer to home, is off to a great start for Xaverian Brothers High School in Westwood, MA. Three-star quarterback Will Wood logged 324 yards on 34 attempts and four passing touchdowns in a recent walk-off overtime win.
Wood’s Hawks are now off to a 1-0 start in the Catholic League after finishing 11-2 last year. He’s currently considered a top-30 quarterback in his class.
Class of 2027 four-star commit Kei’shjuan Telfair, who’s expected to be a defensive back at the next level, put some insane offensive highlights to tape last week.
The Euclid, Ohio, native played quarterback for the first time in Euclid’s (OH) blowout win over Lorain last week. He’s extremely athletic and could be a legitimate candidate to be a two-way player for Penn State if he continues developing as a wide receiver.
Three- star athlete Ka’Ron Caeser had a huge game in a massive win for Winslow Township (NJ), who ended the 29-game winning streak of their rival, Glassboro. His 85-yard kick return touchdown sealed the deal for the Eagles, and he let everyone know about it on social media after the game.
Winslow is now 3-0 and will face off with St. Augustine Prep this week. St. Augustine is coached by Penn State letterman Bill Belton, who actually left Winslow in the spring to accept the new role. Grudge match!
Four-star wide receiver Landon Blum had another huge game this week after setting the all-time Iowa eight-man receiving touchdown record. He scored another four receiving touchdowns in a blowout win for Woodbine (IA).
