Nothing could have prepared Travis Kelce for the moment he saw Taylor Swift walk down the aisle at the couple’s wedding.
Sportscaster Joe Buck, who attended the celebration, said the Kansas City Chiefs star was in tears during the star-studded ceremony.
“Travis was a puddle watching his nieces come down the little ramp that they built,” Buck revealed on a recent episode of the “Starkville” podcast. “And then, you know, when [Swift] walked out, he was a puddle.”
Buck went on to describe the couple’s vows, which quickly became another centerpiece of the day.
“Their vows were long,” he said. “They were really well written. They were funny. They were sweet. They were emotional.”
And Buck wasn’t the only guest struck by the length and intensity of the vows.
Jonathan Thomas said on “The Compound & Friends” podcast last week that the vows each stretched close to half an hour.
“Travis went first with his vows,” Thomas recounted. “He probably spoke for 30 minutes. And I don’t want to violate his privacy, but I was crying.”
Thomas said Swift followed with vows of her own, equally lengthy and unmistakably hers.
“She also wrote her own vows,” he continued. “She probably spoke for 30 minutes … it was poetic. She’s a writer.”
The ceremony also included a moment of levity courtesy of Adam Sandler, who officiated the wedding and slipped in a joke that instantly broke the tension.
“In your typical vows, the officiator says, ‘For richer or for poorer,'” Thomas retold. “He said, ‘You’re not going to have to worry about that.'”
Kelce and Swift got married at Madison Square Garden on July 3 in front of roughly 1,000 guests.

By September 2023, Kelce was hinting his efforts had achieved some success, but declined to elaborate amid speculation and as reports surfaced that the two had been “quietly hanging out.” Then, Kelce revealed on a sports talk show that he’d invited Swift to a game at Arrowhead. “I threw the ball in her court,” he said.
Days later, Swift took him up on his offer and attended her first Kansas City Chiefs game seated alongside Kelce’s mother, Donna Kelce, in a moment that effectively confirmed the growing connection. The two left the stadium together in Kelce’s purple Chevelle. Her appearance, the first of many, sent NFL viewership and Kelce jersey sales surging.
In October 2023, Swift and Kelce were spotted together multiple times in New York City, including intimate dinners and a surprise “Saturday Night Live” cameo. Their comfort level in public increased and the pair was photographed leaving after‑parties hand‑in‑hand, signaling that the relationship was getting serious.
