Police searched Friday for the person or people responsible for fatally stabbing a man at a Metrolink station in the San Fernando Valley.
Officers responded to a report of an incident at the Sylmar/San Fernando station on Frank Modugno Drive in San Fernando at 2:07 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department. When they arrived, they found an unidentified man suffering from stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A street vendor told NBCLA he saw a group of men and women near the station before officers arrived.
As detectives investigated, the LAPD shut down part of the station platform. Train service was not affected, but at least one train car remained inaccessible to Metrolink riders Friday afternoon.
The Sylmar/San Fernando station is a busy transit hub served by Metrolink’s Antelope Valley Line, which connects Los Angeles Union Station and Lancaster.
The male suspect was taken into custody about 5 hours after the stabbing was initially reported.
The information on what led up to the deadly incident was not immediately available.
