Schemes are very important. Their problem, was that in the playoffs, they didn’t change them much, if at all. I had a game plan that I thought could help them beat Houston. It was something that they had done twice before. I thought that if they could get into FG distance enough times, the Boz could kick 6 of them. 18 points would have been huge & the 4th quarter disaster wouldn’t have happened. If DK had of caught that pass, they would have only needed 4 FGs. Smith should have never stopped tartgeting DK, after the drop. He should have been targeted soon after. Instead, we got what we got, nobody getting open against man coverage. Schemes will be important this season. McCarthy will have a balance offense & won’t forget about the running game, like Smith did last year. Maybe, he thought that he was protecting the RBs from overuse. Instead, the number of attempts ended up being about 27th in the league. Pretty crazy, since they averaged about 4.6 yards per carry. Good article by Jeremy.
