After a summer that brought major events to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, including the FIFA World Cup and Fourth of July celebrations, Eakins Oval will host another slate of activities during the Oval Minifest this August.
Presented by Philadelphia Parks & Recreation and the Parkway Council, the three-day series of pop-up festivals will feature live music, family programming, local vendors and outdoor movie screenings.
Aug. 8
The sixth annual Hip-Hop in the Park Festival returns to Eakins Oval from noon to 9 p.m. The free event will feature live performances, graffiti mural painting, food vendors and community programming.
Aug. 15
The Now + Then Market Place: Summer Scorcher Market turns the Oval into a curated marketplace featuring local artist, artisans, makers, and resellers. The market will be open from noon to 6 p.m.
From 3 to 5 p.m., PA Unplugged and Screen Free Philly will host a phone-free puzzle hunt along the Parkway. Participants must preregister and pay a $5 fee.
At 8 p.m., Movies at the Oval will screen “Project Hail Mary” (2026) on the Eakins Oval lawn. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs.
Aug. 22
Soccer Shots will offer soccer clinics for children ages 18 months to 8 years beginning at 1 p.m. Activities will be divided by age group:
1 to 1:45 p.m.: Ages 6-8
2 to 2:35 p.m.: Ages 3-5
3 to 3:30 p.m.: Ages 18 months to 2 years.
From 3:30 to 6 p.m., Philadelphia-based Kith + Kin will host family-friendly activities, including arts and crafts, a music class and book giveaways.
Grupo Sumak, a Philly-based cumbia group, will perform Latin American dance music in a concert on the oval from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Beginning at 8 p.m., Movies at The Oval returns to the lawn of Eakins Oval with a screening of The Incredibles (2004). It is recommended that attendees bring a blanket or chair to the screening.
