The Chicago area will see a breathtaking weather day on Sunday, but those looking to head to the beach may not be able to get in the water.
According to the National Weather Service, a beach hazard statement remains in effect on Sunday, with waves of 3-to-6 feet and rip currents expected as winds continue to blow out of the north.
As a result, forecasters are urging residents to stay out of the water, and to avoid piers, jetties, breakwalls and other lakeside structures, especially in Cook County in Illinois, as well as Lake and Porter counties in Indiana.
As for conditions inland, there will be plenty of sunshine in the forecast for the Chicago area, and temperatures will be on the pleasant side as well, with highs in the mid-70s according to forecast models.
One thing to note for the forecast will be the low temperatures Sunday night and into Monday. According to the NBC 5 Storm Team, temperatures could plunge quite a bit, with readings in the low-50s or even the upper-40s away from Lake Michigan.
Temperatures will warm quickly on Monday however, with highs again rising into the mid-to-upper 70s under mostly sunny skies.
In fact, the only blip on the radar in the coming days could be Wednesday, as a quick-moving system could bring showers and thunderstorms to the region.
By Thursday that weather will clear out, and several more days of dry weather could lead into next weekend. High temperatures could be back around their seasonal averages, rising into the upper-70s and the low-80s.
