The Chicago Cubs will be headed back to Williamsport next season, as they’ll participate in the MLB Little League Classic.
MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred announced during Sunday’s game between the Milwaukee Brewers and Atlanta Braves that the Cubs would be taking on the Toronto Blue Jays in the contest next season.
This will mark the first time the Blue Jays have participated in the game, and they will serve as the home team next season. The Cubs will be playing in their second Little League Classic, having beaten the Pittsburgh Pirates 7-1 in the contest back in 2019.
The annual game in Williamsport is played in conjunction with the Little League World Series, which kicked off last week in Pennsylvania.
The Pirates beat the St. Louis Cardinals 6-3 in the first game played at the specially designed ballpark, which welcomes in Little League teams from around the world to catch the MLB game each season.
While previously the game has been played on Sundays, next season the game will move to a Thursday night instead, with the game still airing on ESPN as it has in previous seasons.
The game will mark yet another neutral site contest for the Cubs, who opened the 2025 season against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Tokyo, Japan. They also played in the 2022 Field of Dreams game in Iowa, beating the Cincinnati Reds 4-2, and they played the St. Louis Cardinals in a two-game series in London in 2023.
