Police in suburban Elmhurst released new photos of a suspect wanted in connection with a sexual battery that occurred while a woman was running on a popular trail.
The incident was reported between 8:45 and 9 p.m. on Thursday between York Street and Pioneer Park on the Illinois Prairie Path, a popular trail for runners, walkers and bikers. According to police, the incident involved a woman who was battered while running on the path.
Police, in an initial Facebook post announcing the alert, released photos of the suspect who appeared to be wearing a red shirt, light colored cargo shorts and a black cap. Public safety cameras recorded the suspect leaving the area on an electric scooter, riding west on Vallette Street from York Street.
On Sunday, police released clearer images of the suspect, who was carrying a black Segway brand electric scooter and wearing green Crocs and a Chicago Bulls’ hat.
“Someone knows who this is,” police said in a Facebook post, in part. “Help Elmhurst Police identify the suspect in the Illinois Prairie Path battery from these new photos.”
